haha thanks for asking this question! i actually know how to answer this!!
-tea tree oil is really good at fighting bacteria and cleaning your face, but it can be too harsh on your skin… i suggest diluting it 1/2 and 1/2 with Sweet Almond Oil(DO NOT USE IF YOU’RE ALLERGIC TO NUTS!) or Jojoba Oil (both are really good moisturizers and non-comegenic: http://www.acne.org/jojoba-oil.php and http://www.simplysatisfyingsoaps.com/SpecialtyOils.htm) what i do right before i go to sleep, i wash my face w/ an acne cleanser and apply the solution with a cotton ball to my face. another great acne product is (from personal experience, i still use it
), try Queen Helene’s Mint Julep Masque!
tip: maximum skin regeneration occurs @ 11pm to 2am so be sure to be fast asleep then! and drink plenty of water, fruits, and veggies
good luck!
there are several uses for tea tree oil…but I think you use it straight from the bottle…my daughter used it for acne…it didn’t work…the only thing that works for her is Acne Free, which is the same thing as Pro Active except it is sold in the stores
Don’t put it on your whole face, it is suitable to dot undiluted onto spots or on your scalp to ward off lice (excellent for that). A few drops diluted on a pad could be lightly patted onto your face but really you’re better getting their Tea Tree toner which is designed for that as opposed to the concentrated oil. The pure oil is too strong and astringent, it will strip your face of its oils leaving you red and dry.
If you are around children, dot a few drops onto your scalp beforehand, the lice detest it and will not come anywhere near you, even if every person in the room had lice you would not get them.
Don’t use the pads, it is a waste of time. The oil will not transfer from the pad because……Essentials are very thin and very volatile ( they evaporate quickly). It would evaporate and also absorb into your fingers before you could apply it. You need a 2% solution. That means 12 drops of Tea Tree oil into each ounce of carrier oil. Don’t use cooking oil or mineral or baby oil, it will not pass through the skin. Get a bottle of therapeutic grade oil like grape-seed, sunflower, safflower, jojoba, apricot. Make the mix, shake the bottle gently and apply with a q-tip.
