Is it alright to use tea tree oil on a cold sore?

I have a cold sore at the corner of my mouth. I have been putting tea tree oil on it because it eases the pain and softens the skin around the sore. I was wondering, is it alright to use tea tree oil this close to my mouth? A little bit of it does get into my mouth at times.
In the past I used Antibiotic ointment (neosporin) on them but I was told that was bad to use near the mouth. The neosporin helped ALOT.

I just got some Tea Tree Oil from the body shop, the 10 ml bottle, and i also got some cotton pads. Do i need to add water to the tea tree oli or anything?

I have moderate acne on my face and I bought 100% Australian tea tree oil. So, I was just wondering if i apply the oil overnight and leave it or do I need to put on a toner or something before I apply? Please help, I need answers fast.

uhm. my scalp is pretty dry. sometimes when i try to massage it i feel like pimples on it and they hurt sometimes. i dunno what's wrong. but i do know that for my dry scalp i gotta put on tea tree oil. i hope it works. should i use like a special shampoo after using tea tree oil or what?

Therefore does Tea Tree Oil actually work? Is it like any other oil in that it clogs pores? How does it work if its an oil? Anyone have any success stories with Tea Tree?

I've heard and read that tea tree oil is effective for treating acne, but I'm not sure if it should be diluted or not. If so How do I dilute it so it won't make my skin worse?
